March 2006, Anita Nystrand Ministries was in Freetown, the capitol of Sierra Leone. We were the guest speakers at a 10 day conference for pastors and church leaders
Many were saved and healed
There were 2 meetings a day during the conference. The morning meetings were for pastors and church leaders and the evening meetings were open to the public. Many were healed and set free during the evening meetings.
Deaf ears opened
In a slum area of Sierra Leone, many found new hope after seeing miracles of healing and hearing the good news about Jesus; the greatest doctor of all! After praying for this young lady, the Lord opened her ears and she could hear. She was so happy that she ran out and brought others to the meetings. She also brought her baby to me for prayer and to be blessed. After witnessing this miracle, masses of people poured in and we were unable to pray for them all before we had to move on. People were touched by the power of God and many were healed. Several young women described their tragic fate and wanted prayer. The atmosphere was incredible and we were very bold. We prayed for them, cried with them, and comforted them. God was there to touch and change people’s lives.

This woman was left to die, but Jesus had other plans for her.
I met a joyful, smiling woman one night after a meeting. Her face shining with enthusiasm, she wanted to tell everyone what Jesus had done for her. A few years ago, she had been very ill. Gradually, her body had stopped functioning; she had become bedfast and lame from the neck down. Day after day, she layed on her bed waiting for death. She was married to an Imam (Muslim spiritual leader,) and had been taken to Mekka several times hoping to be healed. Nothing happened. She was then taken to several doctors, paying large sums of money, but nothing happened. After that, she was taken to a witchdoctor who treated her with tribal medicine, which only made her condition worse. One day, two Christians came to town. They went door to door telling people about Jesus Christ and inviting them to come to a new church that had just opened in the neighborhood. This woman told them that she was a Muslim and worshipped Allah.
Then one night, a bright light appeared in her bedroom. As the light came closer, she could see someone standing at the foot of her bed. She knew instantly it was Jesus! He said, “you will not die, you will live.” He stretched forth his hands and lifted her off the bed. She had not stood for one and a half years. She turned and looked where her bed had been, but it was now a pond. Jesus told her to go down into the water and each time she came up, he spoke life and health to her body. He told her she would have the strength of a 16 year old, and that every gray hair on her head would be black again. After the last time she came up from the water, Jesus covered her with a white robe. The woman then found herself back in her bed, but she knew that Jesus had healed her and so she got up and began calling for Jesus with all her strength. She made so much noise and caused such a disturbance that her family came running into her room and the neighbors gathered outside. She told anyone who would listen about Jesus. Her husband was very upset and threw her out of the house. She was not allowed to see her children or have any contact with the rest of the family. Furthermore, she had to go into hiding so that she would not be killed for converting to Christianity. The woman felt this was a small price to pay for what Jesus had done for her.
